About Me
Hello, I am DiAnna and I am a mom, grandma, teacher, and attempting quilter. I am American but live in Germany. I started to teach myself to quilt a few years ago. I had sewn since and early age, but found that after a traumatic brain injury some of my skills for sewing were not so good, and I really didn't have an interest in sewing clothes anymore. I had always loved quilts, so I decided if I was going to work on my sewing skills I would do it through quilting. I am far from an expert, but I do OK.
I love finding inspiration in many places, even when the inspiration doesn't quite turn out as planned in an end product; it's all a learning experience. I joined a local quilt guild (the Rheinland Pfalz Quilt Guild) and have found it to be quite inspirational in its own way; so many talented people. I have found that my most favorite quilts I have made were ones meant to comfort someone, i.e. the fish quilt for my brother before he died, a lapquilt for a friend going through cancer treatments, a cuddly bear one for a grandson who had lost his bear (eventually found), and the baby quilts for the local NICU onbase.
I haven't quite found my niche yet, but I am trying out different methods and will eventually find what I like best. Since I am still on a journey, I thought a blog would be a great place to keep track of what I am doing, things that I find that might be useful to others, and a mish-mash of things related.
